Before she was old enough to write her own name, Elisa Strauss recalls standing in her grandmother's kitchen baking and decorating cakes and cookies. Now, years later Chef Elisa, the creator of Confetti Cakes®, is still hard at work in her kitchen.
Confetti Cakes is the culmination of a life-long artistic pursuit and the fulfillment of a dream. Elisa's artistic inclinations led her to pursue the study of art at Vassar College and The School of the Art Institute of Chicago. Soon after graduating from Vassar she expanded her medium from oil paints and textiles to cake design and construction. She worked as a designer for Polo Ralph Lauren. While at Polo she was asked to design Ralph Lauren's birthday cake in the shape of a Bugatti, his
favorite sports car. This cake caught the discriminating eyes of those in the fashion industry and pretty soon Elisa had so many cake commissions on her hands she decided to take her design talents into her kitchen full time. Elisa Strauss is a graduate of The Institute of
Culinary Education where she received her degree in Pastry and Baking Arts.
Confetti Cakes specializes in hand-sculpted delicious works of art. Customers are passionate about our cakes for both their artistic designs and their delicious taste. Each cake is created completely from scratch using the freshest ingredients. Confetti Cakes offers a variety of fantastic cake flavors from decadent chocolate and old-fashioned vanilla to rich red velvet and moist carrot cake.
Elisa’s creations have appeared on the Today show (one of her cakes was selected as the winner of the "Today Throws a Wedding" series), Sex and the City (she made Charlotte and Harry's wedding cake during Season Six), Good Morning America and The Early Show. Elisa herself was featured on Martha and The View. She has appeared several times on the Food Network, including a segment profiling her successful transition from fashion designer to small business owner.
