Elisa
Strauss Graduated May 2001,
The Institute of Culinary Education
"The
hard part about being a cook is that you know
what horrific end your beautiful work will
inevitably meet. It will be mercilessly carved
up, then torn apart by packs of bicuspids
and molars. For Elisa Strauss, the pain must
be far worse than it is for normal cooks:
As founder of Confetti Cakes (212-877-9580),
a business she runs out of her Upper West
Side apartment, she produces jaw-dropping
desserts for weddings and other occasions.
Strauss spends about 25 hours baking, icing,
sculpting and painting each creation, only
to see the product of her hard work treated
like a teenager in a horror movie." |
